Frequesntly Asked Questions
Farm Shop in Shropshire
What cut should I buy for a Sunday roast? It depends what you like. If you like your meat reasonably rare you may be better with topside or a rib, but if you like it well done a silverside or best forequarter may suit you better. The best thing to do is try different cuts and see for yourself. They all have slightly different flavours and slightly different grain and texture.
Do you sell chicken?
Yes we sell Chickens, Breasts, Theighs, Drumsticks, Wings and Chicken Liver. All are Free Range from Bryn Derw Farm, Powys. They are available fresh from midmorning Thursday through to Tuesday and then frozen on Wednesday.
Are your eggs fresh?
Yes. Sometimes we have been known to go and collect some while the customer waits and they are still warm! However we have now managed to build up our flock and eggs are generally between 1 and 3 days old and certainly no more than a week.
Where do you get the sausage?
We make them here on the premises. They are made with shoulder and belly pork and have rusk and seasoning added to produce a meaty tasty sausage enclosed in natural skins. They come thick or thin according to the casings used. We do about 20 different flavours such as honey roast, pork and leek; Cumberland; Lincolnshire; Romany; Caribbean; Cajun; chilli and garlic; whisky and ginger; ginger and spring onion; pork and chestnut; pork and apple; pork with maple and Cranbury and Chinese. We only do about three types per week but can do a specific flavour if ordered.
Do you cater for allergy sufferers?
Yes. We do gluten free sausage, beef and red onion sausage and burgers. None of our burgers or sausage contain egg.
I am infirm. Can I park close by?
Yes you can park right by the door. There is a wide door with no step suitable for wheelchairs and a chair to sit on while you shop or while you wait.
