Showtime

6 th August 2007

Despite shows being cancelled due to weather and then Foot and Mouth last Summer the Shraden Hereford team has had a very successful season so far. At the Shropshire and West Midland show where there were record entries of Herefords, with 86 cattle forward, we had a first and several placings and also won the best Hereford bred in Shropshire and the most points for a Shropshire Hereford herd. As a bonus we also won the prize for the tidiest lines. At the Royal show with an entry of 105 Herefords we won the best group of three Hereford cattle by the same sire and also the best group of three bred by the exhibitor. The Royal Welsh was almost as wet as the Royal and Shraden 1 Duchess S10 came up trumps again winning probably the best cow class she has ever won. She is now 8 years old and rearing her 7th calf and is still as fit and healthy as ever - a great advert for the longevity of the Hereford breed.

We are now getting ready for this years show season.

First Birthday

26 th April 2007

Yesterday we reached our first birthday. The success of the first year has surpassed all  our expectations. We have seen well over 9500 customers during the year and have made many new freinds. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of you who have supported us and had so much patience with us as we learned to adapt to this new venture. We have found during the year that it is definitely a two way learning experience and while you learn about different cuts of meat you had never heard of ,we learn of all different names those cuts are given in different areas of the country and of all your different requirements.
It has been a delight to watch the children enjoying visiting the animals. Cow, pigs and chickens as well as our two new arrivals in the sheep paddock. The chickens have just moved to their new site for the summer and are very happy with all the new fresh grass and also the company of those of you who enjoy walking down whitmore [worlds end] lane.
As a result of one customers comments we have started a book exchange where you can bring your old books and borrow others you have not read. There is no charge but we have a box on the stand for donations to the Air Ambulance .
We have all become much quicker at making sausage and burgers due to the huge demand and will soon be supplying barbeque packs. We have already started to take orders for large barbeque parties later on in the summer and are happy to give quotes for any you may have planned.
We look forward with excitement and anticipation to the next year ....
With thanks from all at Moor Farm Shop
